St. Charles Police Apprehend Suspect / Dog Shot

The St. Charles Police Dept responded to the 2700 block of Veterans Memorial PPkwyto the Travelodge Hotel to investigate a stolen car. Upon arrival it was determined what room the suspect was in and contact was made. After being advised he was under arrest the suspect slammed the door and started to barricade himself in the room.. The officers were able to force entry and were met with resistance from the suspect. A taser was deployed and upon deployment a pit bull lunged at the officer actually biting the taser. The dog continued to attempt to get to the officer at which a backup officer fired four rounds at the dog, killing the dog. Suspect was then subdued and placed under arrest.

Suspect will be charged with Felony stealing of a motor Vehicle, Felony Resisting arrest. He also had an outstanding warrant from St. Charles County Sheriff's Deprtment. Suspcet's name will be released upon formal charges being issued.
